The Short 'Straight-From-My-Heart' Answer:

1- A bunch of pissed-off, grieving parents along with plenty of talented but frustrated healthcare professionals who needs to raise $2.5 million dollars for research. Why $ 2.5 million you ask? That's how much we need to raise so that Yale University will match it. That's $5 million dollars! (You have to say it like Dr. Evil.)

2 - We've been through HECK and back and being both medical professionals and parents who went through this nightmare we think we can offer support and guidance to other families.

3 - And, lastly but definitely not least, we intend to go to Washington D.C, the FDA, Newt Gingrich's grandmother if neccessary, to get NEW treatments approved faster and to stop wasting money on old, redundant research. Chemo sucks, been there, done that. There's got to be a better way, and I intend to find it. Well, I'm not that smart, but I intend to find the SmartyPants who does know but is being held down by The Man.

The Longer, Professional Answer:

LuciaGirl trying to break the sound barrier all by herself!The LuciaGirl Pediatric Oncology Foundation (LGPOF) was created in honor of sweet, beautiful, funny, smart, Lucia M. Renard, who at only 8 years old battled the devastating effects of malignant brain tumors.

LGPOF raises money and awareness on behalf of children battling any type of cancer. We are particularly interested in viable investigations that will significantly impact the course of treatment development to significantly improve survival rates of our children.

Additionally, we are determined to bring about changes in FDA procedures to allow fast-tracking of experimental therapeutics to those children facing impending doom barring divine intervention.

We also provide informational, emotional and some financial support to improve the quality of life for the children and their families.

Yes, we need your money but we also need your passion!
