We do not bombard our supporters with emails, maybe 4 a year.
We use email as a cost effect way to communicate (have you checked the price of a stamp these days?!)
It will also help to have as many survey responses (anonymous, if you wish) when we go stompin' to Washington D.C. to change the status quo, since status quo means our children are dying! I can't do it by myself, people.
